Starting his professional career with Bangladesh Shipping Corporation right after the War of Independence, he has contributed over 49 years of his life to the development of maritime sector in Bangladesh, as a Master Mariner, Ship Charterer, Marine Surveyor and Consultant and an Educator. Outside work, he devotes most of his time on social welfare activities and charitable causes. He is an active member of numerous social organisations and has achieved many awards and accolades for his service in this cause.
